OUR VISION

Jesus' last words are our first priority.
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

As a church, we exist to see souls saved and disciples made. We exist to see more people becoming more like Jesus.
This statement speaks of multiplication and discipleship; it is a mission to expand our community, not just in numbers, but in the depth of our faith. We're committed to reaching more of the coast and extending the invitation to experience the transformative power of Jesus' teachings. Simultaneously, we're focused on deepening our understanding and embodiment of those teachings and fostering a community of disciples who reflect the love and grace of Jesus.

WHY DO WE WORSHIP?

WE WERE CREATED TO WORSHIP
In Isaiah 43:21, it says that we are the “people who God formed for Himself, that we may proclaim His praise”.
In Revelation 5:13, John says “I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honour and glory and might forever and ever!”.
Every living creature praising our God - that is what we were created to do.

WORSHIP IS WARFARE
There is weight to what we do. When we worship, we are standing on the frontline of God’s army. Worship is more than just singing songs, it is warfare.
Joshua 6 – “In the battle of Jericho, God used the sound of trumpets and shouting of his people to physically tear down the walls of the enemy.”
2 Chronicles 20 – Jehoshaphat praised God and “appointed singers to sing to the Lord and praise Him” as they went out before the army. When they began to worship, God sent ambushes against the other armies, and they destroyed each other.
1 Samuel 16 – David’s harp soothed the tormenting spirit that plagued Saul.
And here is the war that we are fighting in:
Ephesians 6:12 - For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

WORSHIP IS A LIFESTYLE
Paul says in Romans 12, “I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship.”
A living sacrifice…
So why do we sacrifice?
Because it is our true worship.
Why do we as a team rehearse for hours throughout the week?
Because it is our true worship.
How we serve & serve well

Sunday Before
A Messenger chat will be created by your worship leader and the vision and songs are released to the team, where you will have the opportunity to learn the songs and all of your parts before Thursday night’s rehearsals.
Please pray and seek the Lord on your worship leader’s vision so that we can serve united!
Thursday Rehearsal
6:00pm Thursday night at church where the Worship Leader will:
Do a round of check-ins with the team; we serve together better when we know where each other are at.
Press into the presence of God and really pray for each other, for the rehearsal, and for the Sunday.
Recap the song list, general structure, vision/theme for the week.
Run through the song list, including transitions, bops and flows.

6:45 am - Singers & Muzo Team arrives
Instruments, In-Ears, Help Others
7:00 am - Line Check
7:30 am - Team Rally
7:45 am - Platform Rally

Dress Code:
We come to our Sunday services dressed modestly and to honour God, we want to present ourselves well and prepared.
Practically, that means no shorts and no low-cut necklines that may show cleavage. Crop tops are not acceptable. Nothing that’s too tight, short, or revealing.
Clothing with prints and patterns are acceptable, unless they have language or images that may be offensive or inappropriate.
We respect everyone’s styles and personalities, however, please dress to ‘blend in’, rather than to ‘stand out’ - we want our congregation’s focus to be on Jesus!
If unsure, please feel free to ask our leaders at any time.
Blue Card:
All volunteers at hm.church are required to have a blue card issued by the Government. This is free and easily accessible. Once you have applied for a blue card, please provide your name, date of birth, card number and expiry date to Ryan. If you don’t yet have a Blue Card go here for more info.

Punctuality:
Your reliability sets the tone for the team. Please arrive on time and stay until the service is complete, we encourage you to linger and connect with our people, your connection means a lot! If you are unable to attend or will be late, let your worship leader know as early as possible.
Communication:
We use Facebook Messenger & SMS for Sunday updates and team communications. We believe in honouring each other's time and effort so we expect responses to communications.
Elvanto is our database system where you can find rosters, song charts, and our schedule. Please refer to this for your weekly roster and runsheet.

Safety
Safety in the worship team is about creating a distraction-free space where people can encounter God. It’s not just an obligation, but a way to honour others by making sure the environment is safe and smooth-running. All volunteers should:
Know the emergency evacuation procedures
Know how to report incidents or hazards
Have their blue card linked to hm church
Follow Safe Ministry expectations.
In worship, this also means using electrical gear safely, securing cables to avoid trips, monitoring sound levels to protect hearing, and handling instruments or tech gear with care. Additionally, please refrain from allowing your children on the stage.

In all areas of our teams, we don’t look firstly at technical competency, we look for an attitude to serve, and a heart for God. So come with all your expertise, or come to learn, we are all here to serve the vision of hm.church and to bring glory to God through our craft.
For singers, we would love to start off with a 10-15 minute session with you after service to play alongside you as you sing a song of your choice (preferably from the songs we sing at hm.church!) so that we can gauge where you’re at.
From here, our onboarding process consists of 3-4 weeks of weeknight rehearsals with the team, so that you can familiarise yourself with the process and ease your way into getting to know how things run, as well as getting to know the team!
From here, we will invite you to 2-3 weeks of Sunday morning rehearsals, so that you can familiarise yourself with our Sunday morning process.
After you have completed your onboarding process, we’ll reassess with you to see whether you’re all in, or if you’d like to look for another department to serve in.

Firstly, we’ll start you off with shadowing* one of our sound team members. This is not only to familiarise yourself with the console, how we run sound checks and how we setup/packdown, but also to get to know the team! Relationships are important amongst the team.
After this, we will set you up with a virtual soundcheck, where you can mix a live set sometime throughout the week! You can do this as many times as necessary.
We’ll assess and once you’re comfortable, you will begin leading the setup, soundcheck and mix with one of our team members shadowing you.
From here, after another check in, the floor is yours!
*Please note that the onboarding process can vary in length depending on your technical proficiency with the console and prior knowledge of sound engineering

We have a high feedback culture, and a culture of leading up. What this means is that communication is always two-way, we welcome any and all questions you may have, and encourage you to bring any issues, concerns, interests and more to our leaders.
Our leaders are equipped to answer your questions to the best of our ability, and will always be ready to support you.

When are rehearsals?
Weeknight rehearsals are 6:00pm on Thursday night at church. Your worship leader will confirm these details with you.
Sunday rehearsals are from 6:30am (sound team), and 6:45am (muzos and singers), and you will be required to stay for the duration of the two services until the end of service debrief.
How do rehearsals run?
Each weeknight rehearsal will involve your worship leader recapping your song list, general structure, vision/theme for the week, then moving into a time of prayer.
We love to press into the presence of God and really pray for each other, for the rehearsal, and for the Sunday, as a team.
From here, you will run through your set, including all transitions, bops, and flows.
What is the purpose of rehearsals?
Rehearsals should act as a time to work together as a band to glue together, rather than learning parts/the song. Learning the song and all of your parts should happen before rehearsals. Sunday rehearsals should be a refresher more than anything else.
If you are having trouble learning a song throughout the week, reach out to your worship leader and they will provide you with resources to help you out!

We will ensure you have ample opportunity to submit any unavailabilities you may have before rostering you on.
However, if unforeseen circumstances arise and you can’t make it, please make your own effort to find a swap - submit this on Elvanto.
Once you’ve found a swap, make sure they accept the swap on Elvanto, and let your worship leader know.
If you cannot find anyone to swap with, let your worship leader know.
Joining the team means that you have made a commitment that if you are rostered on, you will be available for Thursday night rehearsal and Sunday morning. If you cannot make it to a Thursday rehearsal, please let your WL know and they will make the decision whether to find a swap or stay with the roster. Otherwise, your worship leader may change your rehearsal day.
